Winter of 2010-11 — back-to-back snow storms, icy roads, driveways and sidewalks, mound after
mound of snow, school cancellations — the heavy snow caused many buildings to collapse. The typi-
cal picturesque New England winter turned into a hazard for many. We wondered if piles of snow
would ever melt. Winter’s damage seemed endless as the potholes widened and the buildings fell. As
the weather warmed, it didn’t take long to see the recovery efforts begin. Asphalt trucks crowded the roads as potholes were
patched and repaired. Local industries secured ceilings and broken walls. Neighbors cleaned up the debris of tree limbs,
broken gutters, and flooded basements. The hopes of spring brought forth a time of recovery.
